No. Niolon has never had a hotel. You can sleep at the diving centre, in a cabanon or in a few seasonal rentals. Calanca is a whole village house, booked direct.

Can we come without a car?

Is Niolon noisy in summer?

In summer the calanque is lively by day: swimmers, divers, the harbour. In the evening the village settles down again. And in any season, it is nothing like the crowds of Les Goudes or the Marseille calanques.

Is Marseille easy to reach?

Yes: 20 minutes on the Côte Bleue train from Niolon station, or 25 to 30 minutes by car.

Can we hike from the house?

Yes. The customs officers' path and the GR 51 start from the village, along the Côte Bleue Marine Park.

Can you dive in Niolon?

Yes, but not in any way you like: the UCPA in the fort works through residential courses, and try dives are booked with the clubs in Carry-le-Rouet. A mask and a snorkel are enough from the rocks. Our diving guide to Niolon covers the sites, the levels and the Marine Park rules.

Are there shops in Niolon?

Niolon is a very small village: shops are in Carry-le-Rouet (10 min by car) or L'Estaque (15 min). Plan the first evening's groceries ahead.
